About the Role

A coal mine operation in Adger, Alabama, is seeking a Temporary Full-Time HR Coordinator with the potential to transition into a regular full-time position. This role will support HR functions, employee relations, compliance, and recruitment while ensuring smooth labor relations in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and interpret union contracts, including compliance and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
  • Support grievance handling and labor negotiations
  • Address employee inquiries and resolve workplace concerns
  • Maintain personnel records and assist with onboarding/offboarding
  • Support recruitment efforts and workforce planning
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Generate HR reports and assist with audits

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
  • Experience: 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally in mining, industrial, or energy sectors; union experience required
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and payroll/timekeeping platforms
  • Certifications (Preferred): PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification
  • Other Requirements: Knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA; occasional travel to mining sites

Work Environment

  • Office-based with periodic exposure to mining operations
  • Occasional site visits requiring PPE
  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing; occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.)
