OVERVIEW:

Oglebay Institute is seeking a motivated individual to assist in the kitchen from Friday July 12- Saturday July 27, 2024, during the Junior Nature Camp. These are long, fun days, and we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic team member to join us for this exciting camp experience! We offer competitive pay, plus (optional) room and board for an individual who is willing and able to stay the duration of the camp experience, which is preferred.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 To support the mission of Oglebay Institute’s Junior Nature Camp by preparing daily meals and to take direction from the Head Cook in all aspects of kitchen preparation and cleaning.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Motivated individual, with ability to take direction and perform tasks with diligence and care.

Ability to work shifts: We start at 6:30am, serve dinner at 6:00pm, and typically leave the kitchen around 8:00pm.

It is not necessary that an applicant be experienced in kitchen work, but very important to be able to take instruction and be willing to work.

Preferred ability to stay on site for the duration of the camp experience.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To serve as the Junior Nature Camp Assistant Cook during the Junior Nature Camp.

To follow the direction of the Junior Nature Camp Head Cook

To assist in all meal preparation

To provide family style meals and buffet style lunches for the campers and staff 

To adhere strictly to all American Camping Association guidelines for meal procedures as outlined

To adhere to all Health Department rules/regulations

To prepare an evening snack prior to departure

Pay and Room/Board Benefit

Oglebay Institute to pay the sum of $12 per hour, plus (optional) room and board from July 12-27, 2024.
