We are committed to the responsible development of West Virginia’s natural resources and to shaping a stable, forward-looking energy landscape.

Position Overview

GO-WV is seeking a dynamic and strategic President-Elect to lead the organization into its next chapter. This is a unique leadership opportunity: the selected candidate will co-lead GO-WV for approximately one year alongside the current President. This collaborative transition will allow the President-Elect to develop a deep understanding of the association’s priorities, membership base, and the key issues facing the oil and natural gas industry in West Virginia and the broader Appalachian region.

The President will serve as the chief executive of GO-WV, overseeing staff, operations, advocacy efforts, and industry engagement. This role requires a high level of integrity, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex environmental, regulatory and political landscapes with diplomacy and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy: Execute goals approved by the Board of Directors and represent the organization publicly, in the media, and with government officials.
  • Policy & Advocacy: Monitor, report, and lead efforts around state and federal legislation, regulation, and rulemaking that affect the industry.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with elected officials, regulatory agencies, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to build support for GO-WV’s priorities.
  • Board & Member Relations: Convene and support Board and membership meetings; maintain accurate records and present issues and initiatives for board consideration.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise GO-WV employees; manage hiring, performance, and compensation in collaboration with the Board.
  • Communications & Public Relations: Serve as a public spokesperson; oversee and submit articles for monthly newsletters, media relations, and communication strategies.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee the association’s budget and financial records in coordination with the Treasurer and Board.
  • Regional Coordination: Work with peer organizations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, and nationally to advance aligned goals.
  • Membership Growth: Lead recruitment and retention efforts to grow the strength and diversity of GO-WV’s membership base.

Who We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of Oil & Gas Industry experience, or equivalent knowledge
  • Demonstrated Government Affairs experience or knowledge
  • Deep policy and advocacy experience, particularly in energy, natural resources, or similarly regulated sectors
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong political acumen and comfort engaging with elected officials, regulators, and media
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and operational management skills
  • High ethical standards, professionalism, and an inclusive mindset
  • This role requires a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for frequent travel to job sites.
  • All offers of employment are contingent on successfully completing a background check and drug screen. These checks are conducted in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Why Join GO-WV?

  • Lead a respected and influential trade association with a long-standing legacy in West Virginia
  • Spend a year (approximately) under the mentorship of our current President
  • Work directly with decision-makers across the state on regional energy policy
  • Be part of a thoughtful leadership transition designed to ensure long-term success
  • Enjoy the opportunity to shape the future of energy in Appalachia
